What is Trauma? 

Psychology Today describes trauma as occurring when a person “experiences emotional distress resulting from an event that overwhelms the capacity to emotionally digest it.”  These distressing moments range from the death of a loved one, an accident/injury, to physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Trauma is incredibly personalized because not everyone will experience trauma from the same event, and trauma manifests differently based on the age or stress response the individual experiences. At the end of the day, we all have trauma, we will all experience new traumas, and we can all recover from trauma. 

Heal generational or ancestral trauma with Intuitive Energy Healing 

Some traumas are unintentionally passed on from generation to generation. The American Psychological Association wrote an article on the legacy of trauma describing communities of people who experience intergenerational PTSD based on horrific events that their ancestors experienced such as the holocaust and the Ukrainian genocide. Children of the survivors experienced higher rates of anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder. 

Heal childhood trauma with Intuitive Energy Healing 

Sadly, children are at the highest risk for experiencing trauma. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) are traumatic childhood experiences that scientists found could be early indicators of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and substance abuse (the likelihood increases the more ACEs a child experiences). ACEs create toxic stress by constantly activating a child’s stress response, and the continual elevated stress levels puts prolonged strain on the body.

Take a second to imagine your body’s physical reaction to fear, that is how a child with multiple ACE indicators will feel. As the child becomes an adult, years/decades of high levels of stress manifest into disease and illness. The CDC explains that “about 64% of U.S. adults reported they had experienced at least one type of Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) before age 18, and nearly 1 in 6 (17.3%) reported they had experienced for or more types of ACEs.” A list of ACEs can be found on the CDC’s website.
