Struggling with fear? Energy healing
April 16, 2020“Energetic pathways allow us to receive life force energy to keep our body in a state of balance and well-being. Drugs, stress, trauma, injury, abuse, environmental toxins, and toxic relationships can contribute to an imbalance of our energetic balance. Negative thoughts and emotions are the biggest blocker of energy flow. When our energy system is chronically out of balance, it can result in emotional issues as well as eventually manifest physically as disease.”
— RODRIGO ORTIZ, RADIANT YOU
What is energy?
Science tells us that everything is energy. The biofield surrounding us is energy. Your body is made of energy-producing particles, each of which is in constant motion. So, like everything and everyone else in the universe, you are vibrating and creating energy.
Just as veins carry blood and nerves carry messages from one part of the body to another, our thoughts and emotions travel through energy channels. These energy channels connect and allow communications between our mental, physical, and emotional bodies. Modern medicine checks our energetic flow with electroencephalograms (EEGs) and electrocardiograms (ECGs).
Ancient civilizations from India, China, Egypt, Greece, and the Americas used energy healing to restore flow to blocked or slow-flowing energy channels. Once flow is restored, the body’s natural healing mechanisms restore health. The Chinese and Japanese call this life-force energy qi or ki (pronounced “chi”). It’s called mana in Polynesia, pneuma in historic Greece, and prana in India. Modern medicine agrees with ancient Greeks who believed health was also effected by trauma, beliefs, and mindset.
Semyon Kirlian, a Russian scientist, was among the first to bring scientific evidence to the existence of the energy body. Science tells us that atoms, proton, and neutrons, a.k.a energy comprises every aspect of our universe, and our bodies a denser form of the energy that flows around us. We exchange energy with our environment as we breathe and interact with people. Energy is the communication channel where we constantly scan for safety and other messages, what Dr. Stephen Porges calls neuroception. We broadcast energy to tell the world who we think we are and how we feel about ourselves and others to our world.
Have you ever felt someone come into a room behind you and felt their presence before hearing them? Or have you thought about someone just before she called? That was your energy channels communicating between you and the other person.
Doctors and scientists described how our energy field affects us and our world in the 2004 movie, What the BLEEP Do We Know!? We are part of an intelligent energy field that regulates our health and wellbeing. Good health is the result of a balanced energy field, with a smooth flow of energy and proper alignment of thoughts, speech and deeds. Dr. Joe Dispenza is helping us better understand the science of how neuroplasticity, our brain’s ability to change, can change our energy field to optimize our health.
How are we affected by blocks in our energy?
People are most familiar with fear created by trauma. Dr. Peter Levine says, “Trauma, is a ‘highly energetic response’ in which energy gets locked down in the system when traumatized.” Congested energy can also be created by fear, or self-inflicted trauma, often created by our repetitive thoughts and actions or habits often learned from our parents, family and peers. We can either positively or negatively charge our energy in response to life experiences with our thoughts and feelings. When our thoughts and feelings negatively-charge us, our energy gets blocked.
Constriction or stagnation of our body’s vital energy cause tight muscles and without interventions, will eventually cause pain. Studies at SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and others have shown a direct link between traumas experienced in the first eight years of life to disease, disability, and early mortality. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are also a significant risk factor for substance use disorders and can impact prevention efforts.
How does energy healing work?
According to Harvard cognitive neuroscientists, we are conscious of only about 5% of our cognitive activity, so most of our decisions, actions, emotions, and behavior depend on the 95% of brain activity that goes beyond our conscious awareness.
Energy Healing goes beneath the consciousness mind into the cells, nervous system, memory, and every facet of your being. We help you release traumas from this lifetime and within our ancestral memory. You access greater conscious awareness. People often say, “I am more aware and look at situations in a whole new way.” You can get beyond the mind to unlock unconscious triggers and fear-filled habits and reactions. Freed of the blocks, you can make conscious decisions.
Healing is not something that is done to you or for you. It’s done with you.
Aside from trained techniques, energy healers harness the power of the Divine, presence, suggestion, and your intentions as they help you heal. Presence allows for a state of mindfulness and transformation. Intention — perhaps the most important aspect — helps keep the best interests of the one being healed at the forefront of healing. My clients know that we begin each healing or class by setting your intention. You control what happens.
When full energy flow is achieved, you relax into a state of peace and calm. The entire system is brought into a coherent frequency, vibration, sound, and light emission. The natural flow of energy is restored within the body and its surrounding energy field, called the aura. Your body’s natural autonomic healing systems take over to heal your body, mind, and emotions, bringing your back into alignment or wholeness.
Practitioners may incorporate touch or no touch, movement, sound, the spoken word, and light. There are a myriad of tools such sound-creating instruments, dousing rods, crystals, essences, and other elements to create flow. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of energy healing methods. Some types are more effective than others. Skilled intuitive energy practitioners can see, understand the underlying issues, and get to the inception of the trauma instead of treating symptoms. Practitioners help people overcome the fear to release the trauma. Warm, compassionate coaching is also vital so the person feels safety to release what no longer serves them.
Here is an example of getting to the inception instead of treating symptoms. A client was suffering deep sadness after a recent death of her brother-in-law and impending funeral and the impending parent’s first birthday after the parent’s death. His intention was to release the feelings of loss over the last year. In diving deep, we traced loss and grief back through her ancestry to holistically release her generational grief held in her body. Is this far fetched? Epigenetic science is beginning to unveil how releasing inherited trauma can change our genetic code today.
Although most healings are best customized, healers all over the world know that group meditations and healings are often much more powerful than individual treatments because of the power of group intention, giving meaning to the Bible verse, “Where two or more are gathered in His name…”
Best of all, energy healing is non-invasive, natural, and without side effects.
Is energy healing accepted by the medical field?
Top hospitals rated by U.S. New & World Report use energy healing for acute (post surgery) and chronic (cancer) conditions to decrease anxiety, pain, and depression as well as speed the healing process.
The Mayo Clinic offers “Energy therapies include acupuncture, qi gong, healing touch, and Reiki.” Cleveland Clinic offers offers Reiki, yoga, acupuncture, chiropractic, hypnotherapy, guided imagery, mind/body coaching, nutrition and says, “Integrative Medicine techniques support the body’s natural ability to heal, reducing stress and promoting a state of relaxation that leads to better health.” Johns Hopkins Hospital offers Reiki and meditation programs.
